Working in Brazil and the USA, Argentine filmmaker Babenko ("Pixote - The Law of the Weakest", "Tumbleweeds") has brought to life a mesmerizing story with two polar male characters at the center of the plot based on the novel by Manuel Puig. In a prison cell somewhere in Latin America, the gay Molina (Hurt) and the political prisoner Valentin (Julia) are detained. While the first tries to escape from reality, the other thinks about the reasons for the situation. They will have to learn to understand and respect each other. Their relationships, arguments, repulsions, and closeness are interspersed with strange, exquisite fantasies in a retro style.
